Service Description
You will receive a free, comprehensive mental health and wellbeing assessment to help provide access to additional services (e.g., school help, therapy, medication, resources). This assessment will evaluate mood (e.g., anxiety, depression) and wellbeing, exposure to racism and community violence, ADHD symptoms, and strengths. Additionally, families will receive personalized recommendations to increase wellbeing and academic performance, such as lists of mental health referrals and suggested school accommodations. All results from the evaluation and recommendations will be discussed with families via an in-person or virtual feedback session based on family preferences. Throughout the evaluation process, we will work with families to better understand their concerns regarding their child’s mood and behavior, as well as families’ unique needs both at school and in the community. Our project is culturally informed and aims to create a healing space for families, where challenges are recognized and discussed, and referrals to appropriate supportive services are provided. Notably, each family will be compensated ($70 for assessment, $25 for feedback session, and up to $180 for survey completion) for participating in the study. If you would like to learn more about our work, please visit: https://www.acctionlab.com/. If you are interested in participating in this study, please reach out to our research coordinator, Adrian Melendez, at amelendez3@luc.edu or 773-508-3021.
